    ZombieSmash

    by gamedoctors

The best castle defense game, and one of the five best games for the iPhone platform. It's an amazingly complex game for castle defense with multiple weapons, campaign mode, survival mode, and more bonus levels. The levels each have their own objectives so it's not simply smashing zombies over and over. The game is superbly designed in every single aspect highlight by the ragdoll physics and blood splatter engine. It's an enjoyable experience each and every time you play. Making it through the entire campaign mode will make it easily worth double digit dollars. It's not just castle defense, but much more with the overload of weapons, and sheer fight for survival. The numbers and types of zombies provides extreme challenge and it looks, sounds, and controls great while facing that challenge. An essential game if there ever was one.

    Knights Onrush

The best castle defense game on the iPhone. If you want castle defense, Knights Onrush is the way to go. Wonderfully designed game with the traditional survival mode as well as an elaborate campaign mode to help set it apart. Defend Your Castle

    by XGen Studios

The original name in castle defense has brought the game to the iPhone. Everything from the Wii version is included on the iPhone as well as the traditional smaller flash perspective. Tons of achievements, and multiple difficulty modes make this a great castle defense game. Only survival mode, and also just three tools beyond just flicking. Therefore it's behind Knights Onrush.

    StickWars

    by John E. Hartzog

The first castle defense game on the iPhone with basic artwork, but great gameplay. It includes all of the aspects of Defend Your Castle, and is very comparable in almost every way. Great castle defense, but not exceptional. Also check out the new Ultimate Challenge version of Stick Wars. Stick W?ars and Defend Your Castle are near equal, but the two perspectives in Defend Your Castle as well as the overall polish put it ahead.

    Castle Frenzy

    by Gameloft

Castle frenzy is Gameloft's attempt to compete with Knights Onrush that comes up a tad bit short. Everything is rendered din 3D, but it doesn't change the gameplay, and despite being in 3D, it doesn't look as good as the 2D character art of Knights Onrush. Also the gameplay modes are a little more basic and the tools to use don't flow as well. A great castle defense game, but not the best.

    MonsterKill

    by Origin8

Gate defense type game where waves of monsters come attacking. Four famous monsters are included with dracula, werewolf, frankenstein, and mummy. The game is different than the rest with a drawing mechanic used as your attack. Draw lightning bolt, circle for fireball, or just straight line to cut. Some monsters take different tactics to kill. Three gameplay modes, and one of the best designed and most polished games in the App Store. The slightest bit behind the rest, and is a wonderfully unique take if you're interested in a change of pace for the genre.

    Archmage Defense

    by CDE

Unique castle defense game where instead of flicking you drag from the skull castle. Electrocute the incoming waves, and learn more magical powers. Fun with a lot of action, and polish. If you want a more magical take on tower defense rather than the traditional flicking this is near the top of the list. Doesn't offer more than survival, and there could be more magic since that's the basis of the game. Good, but not great to compete with Knights Onrush, and such.

    Coast Defense - Reloaded

    by GAMEHUNTER

World War II themed castle defense. Switches up the gameplay by shooting enemies rather than flicking them. It's a definite unique take, but loses the action, hecticness, and fun of the genre as a whole.

    Bailout Wars

    by Gameloft

Another castle defense game from gameloft with this one having a bailout bankers theme. You defend the white house from waves of bankers, stock brokers, and CEOs. Solid castle defense gameplay with a great unique theme. Basic though in comparison to the games listed in the first two categories.

    Bowman Defense

    by Triniti Interactive Limited

Archer castle defense that is included in the 19 in 1 gamebox. Not worth it separately, but as bundle this is a good game, so check out the bundle.
