Deal Finder Apps For Airline Tickets
Never Overpay Again!
Finding a good deal on plane tickets can be a tricky thing. One quick little tip is to buy your tickets on Tuesday or Wednesday. These days you will typically be able to purchase lower-priced flights for any day of the week. There are some great iPhone and iPad apps to help you get the best rates. We compare our favorites in this AppGuide.
Kayak Mobile is our favorite airline fare checker app. The app is fun to use and compile all of the major airlines information into a single app. Please note that Southwest Airlines blocks apps such as this one. The only way to access their prices is through their own app or website. The Kayak app lets you sort by price, time, airline, stops, and will let you search for flights from surrounding nearby airports. Kayak Mobile should be on every traveler’s iOS device.
Low Cost Flights is an iPhone app that searches and compares up to 300 different companies and their prices. We found that the searches do take longer than in the essential app. The app is also less enjoyable to use. The app uses pounds as its currency, even when flying within the U.S.A. The one advantage this app has is that somehow it includes Southwest Airlines. Bravofly is a nice app, especially for those that reside in the United Kingdom.
Orbitz for iPhone has one of the worst interfaces we have seen. This is simply a kludgy app to use. The service found comparable prices to the other apps we tested, but we would not recommend using this app because of its poor design.

BookMe Travel Search is an okay app. The content is more of a website than anything else. The only app part of this app is the initial search. After that you are displayed websites from Expedia, SmartFares, CheapTickets, HotWire, CheapOAir, and LowCostAirFares.com. There is little reason to use this app over the web browser.

Airfare Deals and Airline News for all World Airlines provides you access to airline carrier’s tweets, blogs, wikis, and other free information. The app simply provides a one stop shop for any social thing an airline is doing. We are not sure if this is worth a dollar. The interface is okay. We HATE that ad-mob empowered ads are included in a paid app! This is unacceptable and is a reason to avoid this app.
