The developers have also fully embraced emoji icons and have an emoji keyboard built right into the app. You can customize the text and how it is displayed, just as you do in the essential app. Fans of emoji and external displays may want to give this one a try.

This free app has fewer features, but at the same time does not feel limited in any way. You are able to customize the animations and how your text is displayed. Banner for iPad does a few really cool things. The thing we love about this app is that you can actually showcase a live stream of tweets. You can also display the date, time, or even your current playing iPod song. Banner includes all the other tools found in many of the other LED banner apps in this guide. Banner is a worthy purchase if a live stream of tweets is something you want.

LED Banner Message HD provides very little to get excited about. You do have the option of turning on a strobe light, but the LED message part of the app is quite limiting. You are able to change the color, speed, and message. There are also many ads scattered throughout the app. LED Banner Message HD is one to skip for now.

Another free option is iBanner! The free price tag is not 100% true. There is an in-app upgrade for $0.99, which grants you access to more backgrounds and customization options. There is a good deal to like about this app, but we have a hard time finding anything that truly makes it stand out as something special.
