Many people think mirror apps are gimmicks. Many mirror apps are indeed bogus. We have found a few notable mirror apps that may be worth your time. We compare our favorites in this AppGuide.

Mirror (Trademark) is a nice low cost option. You can either use the front facing camera or a black screen as your mirror. There are tons of different frames included and the recently released 4.0 version includes zoom, panning, and scrolling support. Mirror is the best traditional mirror app for the iPhone.

    AR Magic Mirror

    by Got

The other essential mirror app is AR Magic Mirror. We are have been quite amazed with this app. To use this app you must tell the app where your eyes and nose are. Once you do that you can place hats, glasses, hair, and other things over your face. This doesn’t just take a picture of you and place the objects over that still image; it will continue to move around when you move. This allows you to preview different hair styles and hats without actually wearing anything. This amazing app is absolutely free and a must have.

    Talking Funny Mirrors

    by SIS software

Talking Funny Mirrors is a free app that can be enhanced with in-app purchases. If you have been to a circus you may have encountered funny mirrors. This app mimics those mirrors that change your appearance. Included in the free portion of the app are the farmer, liquid, potato, and squeezer mirrors. You can unleash all sorts of other apps for an additional $0.99. When you hit record the mirror will also apply a special voice filter to make you sound different. You can share these recorded videos out on YouTube and Facebook. Talking Funny Mirrors is another great app that takes something we all know, funny mirrors, and turns it into a great app.

Mirror! begins their app description with a lie (claiming to be the only mirror app with zoom). The essential app, Mirror, also includes the ability to zoom in. This app works as described and it's free.

One app to avoid is iMirror. The app is a poorer version of the essential app, Mirror. This app will use your front facing camera and put your image around a frame. There is not too much to this app and we would not recommend picking it up.

    iMirror for All iDevices

    by xLiL' Sm0k3x ProduCtionz

Another app in the apps to avoid grouping is iMirror for all iDevices. This app simply turns your screen into a dark color to help reflection. It “supports” the iPad, but really this is more of a gimmicky app than anything else.
