Missile Command For iPad
Relive the 1980 classic with Missile Command
Missile Command is an old 1980 Atari game that you may remember from the arcades. There are a few new incarnations available for iPad owners. Some bring the game into the new era with fresh new graphics and some keep that good old retro feel. We compare the best options in this AppGuide.

Warheads brings Missile Command to your iPhone and your iPad for the low price of $1.99. Retina support is included for supported devices. Warheads also includes GameCenter support. The graphics are fantastic as are the controls. This is what Missile Command would have been if it was made today. Warheads is the essential Missile Command app for iPad.

Sheep Command takes a fresh take on the Missile Command gaming classic. Your mission is to defend a flock of sheep. The only flaw in the design of the game is that it feels like an upscaled iPhone game rather than an iPad native game. The graphics, the sound, and the experience are fantastic and we highly recommend this one.
Atari Classics presents the retro game as it once was. The game is plagued with bad controls. We would love to see an enhancement made here to make controlling the ship easier. For those that are looking for the original, unaltered game, this is the one to get.

MissilePac brings the game into the 90s. You get a little better graphics and much better controls than the Atari Classics app. Your goal in this one is to protect a city. The change is not a big one, but now you have something to fight for. Those looking for a nice, but not awesome version of Missile Command should give this one a try. MissilePac is $0.99 and runs on the iPad alone.

Missile Master is one to avoid for now. For $1.99 you get an iPad-only game that is primitive at best. The graphics are okay, but not great. There are some fun environments, but nothing revolutionary.

Rocket Command is a failed attempt to recreate the retro game. You get the old school retro graphics, but that is about it. The retro graphics included in the Atari app are much better than these. The controls are okay, but there is really nothing too special in this app. We would recommend taking a pass on this one.
