Weightbot — Track your Weight in Style

    by Tapbots

Weightbot is the ultimate app for keeping track of your weight on the iPhone, and is my personal favorite. It is worth every penny of $1.99. Unlike many other apps mentioned in this AppGuide, you do not have to create an account. When you first open the app, it has electronic doors that open from top to bottom, complete with a robotic-sounding noise. Everything about Weightbot's UI is fun, simple, and easy to use. First, you will pick a date on which you'd like to record your weight. After you have chosen the date, you will be prompted to put your current weight in the "weight display" area. Tap on the weight number that you've put in a second time to confirm your entry. If you make any mistakes when inputting your weight or want to add a different one, simply pick the date that you would like to change the entry for, then shake your iPhone to delete that particular entry. When turn your device into landscape mode, you will be greeted with beautiful graphs. Double-tap these graphs to see them in different views. Turn your device counter-clockwise, and you'll be shown view of your current statistics and other data. Make sure to take advantage of the passcode feature, keeping your data privately stored. Weightbot --Track your Weight in Style is the absolute essential weight tracker for your iPhone.

Lose It! – Weight Loss Program and Calorie Counter

    by FitNow

Lose It! is a free app which I consider to be a must-have when it comes to achieving your weight goal. You'll be asked to agree upon simple terms, and then asked if you have an account or if you're a new user. If you are a new user, not to worry, as you are able to easily start setting up your free LoseIt.com account right through the app. It only takes about a minute to do so. You'll be asked to enter your Starting Weight, your Weight Goal, and other questions that will help the app narrow down a weight loss plan for you (such as your gender, height, and birthday). Then comes the important part, which is your weight loss plan. This will vary, depending on what answers you gave to the above questions. Upon giving my information, my plan would involve either maintaining my current weight, or losing weight at the chosen rate of a half pound up to a maximum 2 pounds per week. It will also give you a daily calorie budget. To finish signing up, enter your email and set a password. Lose It! keeps all information given private, unless you allow sharing in your iPhone's settings. This app has graphs and charts that are very easy to read, showing you things like how many calories you've consumed and nutrients that you've taken in for each day. There are many foods and exercises or activities listed in the app's database, and you can even add your own in. Quickly add foods to your daily logs with Lose It!'s barcode scanner, meet people through your LoseIt.com account to find extra support that may help motivate you, and even share your own recipes and exercises with others! A back-up of your data will automatically be saved, so you won't have to worry about losing anything but pounds with this all around essential app.

    Withings Health Mate

    by WiThings, S.A.S.

Withings Health Mate is a great option where tracking your weight is concerned. It is a free download, with simple graphs and syncing available across multiple devices. If you use one of Withings' other apps, such as RunKeeper or BodyMedia, you're able to import your data from them into this app as well. Like some of the other apps detailed in this AppGuide, you will be prompted to open a free account by entering your email and a password. The app keeps track of the data that you input, such as your weight and activities, and aims to help you understand how your body responds to what you do or eat so that you can keep improving upon your health and habits. I like how you're given spoken reminders, which are meant to help keep you focused on your goals. However, these "words of encouragement" are a tiny bit irritating, and other users have experienced the same feelings about them as well. Still, that is not enough to put me off from the app. There are so many other positive things about Withings Health Mate, such as the ability to log your blood pressure and even help with your sleeping patterns. This is an app that we recommend checking out, and is a very good option for staying healthy.

    Monitor Your Weight

    by Husain Al-Bustan

Monitor Your Weight not only gives you an idea of what your weight should be, depending on things like your height and age, but it will also let you pick your own plan. You can see your statistics on the graph, which shows your history as you go along. This app also has the option to keep track of more than one person, so if you are not the only one keeping an eye on your weight, it is ideal for people using a "buddy system" to get healthier. There is PIN code protection to keep your information safe, which is a plus. A new addition to this app is that it will now integrate with the Wahoo Fitness Scale over bluetooth! With many more options, this is a close runner up to some of our essential app choices. Did I mention that it's also free?

    Weight Watchers Mobile

    by Weight Watchers International, Inc.

Weight Watchers Mobile is wonderful way to make the right choices when it comes to your weight and staying healthy. It does require an online subscription, but comes with quite a lot of impressive features. Like the other apps mentioned here, you are able to keep track of weight loss and view helpful graphs. There is also the added benefit of searching the app's food database, which contains more than 150,000 foods and recipes for meals. Some people prefer to go through this process with others, and if you need the added support, you can locate Weight Watchers meetings in your area. Aside from not having a scanner for foods, this is a very good choice for staying healthy and fit, as Weight Watchers has been around for a long time and are known to be quite reputable. This app is universal, so it will also work on your iPad.

    WiScale

    by WiThings, S.A.S.

WiScale is a good and free option for those that want to track their weight on multiple devices, including iPads. This app runs great on both the iPad and iPhone as it is universal, and it syncs. It even integrates with a Wi-Fi scale that will automatically update your account information with your latest weigh-ins. WiScale is a nice alternative to other apps mentioned here, and if you're looking to sync between devices, it's even better. However, since their Withings Health Mate app has been released, that seems to be a better option.

    Weight Tracker

    by Foundation HealthCare Network

Weight Tracker is a difficult to use and overall unreliable weight tracking app. There are many ads that run across the bottom, and ironically, many of them are fast food ads! This is definitely an app that we would recommend steering clear of.
