    The Wall Street Journal.

by Dow Jones & Company, Inc.

Wall street Journal for free on my iPad, that's great right. We that would be, but that's not the case with this app. Once you download it for free it's time to pay. The app requires a monthly subscription of $17. That is even worse when the web subscription is $12/month. You would think the Wall Street journal should advise you on these money saving tips.

    At Bat 2010 for iPad

    by MLB.com

MLB At Bat looks like a great app, but just words of warning. For $14.99 the app provides live pitch by pitch virtual simulation of any game. You can also listen to gameday audio from home or away announcers of any game. You don't get live video broadcasts of every game for the $14.99 price. You need to be a MLB.TV subscriber to be able to watch live games on your iPad. So just note that $14.99 is quite a bit, and you still don't get live video.

    Marvel Comics

    by Marvel Entertainment

I can read Marvel comics on the beautiful big screen for free? Well not exactly. The app is free, but all the comics cost money. You need to buy a comic as an in-app purchase to read it on the great interface. The iPad can be a great comic book reader, but you'll need to buy every single one you ever read, so be prepared. Just a word of caution.

Super Monkey Ball 2: Sakura Edition for iPad

    by SEGA

Sega has yet to demonstrate they can make a good app that is accelerometer based. This is a big name that you may pick-up because of that. Both iPhone versions have been mediocre at best, and this doesn't look any different. When the controls aren't well done the game just is no fun. Tilting this big device may be awkward especially if there is bad tilting calibration which we have to assume now.

    Call of Duty: Zombies HD

    by Activision Publishing, Inc.

This game is more of a bore fest than a gore fest. You'll be spending most of your time sitting with nothing to do waiting for the few sparse zombies to arrive. By the time the action really picks up it'll be about 30 minutes in, and you may have fallen asleep. The game is simplistic and repetitive, and is $14.99 only for the fact that activision publishes it. There are many better games for much cheaper prices (check out other app lists).

Need for Speed Shift for iPad

    by Electronic Arts

The game looks pretty good, but it's inferior than Real Racing HD. Not the biggest word of warning just note that this is $14.99because it's from EA while Real Racing HD is $9.99.

    SCRABBLE for iPad

    by Electronic Arts

Scrabble for iPad looks streamlined and smooth, and the best of EA's iPad offerings. There is even a special iPhone/iPod Touch rack controller to keep your tiles hidden from others. Again just to note that this is $9.99 while Words With Friends HD is $4.99 providing the same scrabble gameplay, but you can play up to games simultaneously any time, and get push notifications when it's your turn.

    Flight Control HD

    by Firemint Pty Ltd

This no doubt looks good, but it's not even the best iPhone line drawing game at $0.99. Now it's $4.99, and still not the best iPad line drawing game. That distinction goes to Harbor Master HD which is Free, so get it instead.
