Overview
THTouch aims to be the “first Texas Hold’em video game for the iPod Touch and iPhone.” It succeeds, though there are still some growing pains.
Review
First off, I want to mention that this game is in VERY active development. I played a version of it about a week ago that I wouldn’t have reviewed, it crashed so frequently. This release is much more solid, to the point that I wondered if it was the same game, as well as looking a lot more attractive.

It can’t be overstated: This is a pretty game. Starting a new tournament, there’s an attractive swirl effect taking you into the table. Then you’re looking at a main screen: a 10-person Hold ‘Em table. At first, it isn’t clear how to start the game without checking the help screen, and I think the game would benefit from a popup with basic instructions upon entering the game for first-time players.

To control the game, you swipe your finger in different directions:
If you ever forget the commands, holding your finger on the screen will bring up a command circle, and you can access the commands by tapping on them there.
Other than that, the AI is fairly decent. The general trend of the table seems to be tight-aggressive, with many hands ending before the showdown and no shortage of all-ins. There is the occasional “huh?” when one of your opponents goes all in with a 5,8 unsuited in the hole, but mostly good play. Certainly good enough to keep you occupied on a train ride, etcetera.
I’d improve a few things, and I mention them only because I’m confident the developer will fix them in future releases:

Summary
While still tweaking the fine details, THTouch is a strong opening into the poker gaming arena on iPhone.
