After video demo’ing the 1st (Movies.app) and 2nd (Box Office) Movie Apps in our search for the best-of-the-best, we’re ready for our final contender – OneTapMovies & Showtimes by Avantar LLC.

The usual drill applies – check out the video above and the boxes below for the what’s what on OneTapMovies and Showtimes.

Pros

• Automatically sets to your current location by default
• You can choose to specify a location by city name, not just zip code
• Arranges all theatres by distance from your location
• Shows only show times that are left for that day, no old times
• Allows you to see movie times for shows up to 7 days in advance
• Ability to watch the trailer and read IMDB description in the app
• One click gets you driving directions from current location to theatre

Cons

• $1.99
• No link to buy tickets
• Can’t search by movie at all, only by movie theatre. I cannot see all the theatres playing a specific movie nearby
• Ratings are not defined. We do not know the source rating the movie
• 3 of the navigation tabs (Popular, Ratings, Newest) are centered around movies, not theatres. If you click any of these tabs it tells you about the movies and notes which theatres the movie is playing at, but it doesn’t show movies times. You cannot click that movie or even the theatre name to find the show times. You have to jump all the way out to the theatres tab and find it manually

Showtimes

This is a free version of one tap movies without these features:

• No Ability to set a location other than your current location
• Can only see movies for current day
• No Trailers
• No Ratings
