Installer 4.0 Beta Leaked

Posted by Andrew Robinowitz on: August 5th, 2008, 12.52 pm

While the RiP Dev Team, creators of Installer, have kept their blog quiet, versions of Installer 4.0 have begun to surface. This appears to be a very rough beta release.

The iPhone Dev Team, reporting that they had received an advance copy of Installer 4.0 over the weekend, said they estimated a public-release wouldn’t be available within a few days, a definite takeaway that Installer 4.0 is not exactly ready for primetime.

If you’d like to proceed, however, you can try and snag a leaked copy from HERE or HERE or HERE.

You’ll need SSH to install Installer 4.0, but don’t worry, Nic’s posted a full walkthrough on how to do this: How to SSH on the iPhone.

In a nutshell you’ll need to extract the zip file, use SSH to get Installer.app into your /Applications folder, run ‘chmod -R 777 /Applications/Installer.app’ and ‘chmod a+srx /Applications/Installer.app/Installer’ via terminal, and restart your device.
