Folks wishing to trick out their snazzy new iPhone 3Gs are in luck — ColorWare now supports your new gizmo! You can select from 35 colors, including candy apple, ferrari, and steel, and customize the following components:
A special scratch-resistant coating, also known as X2, is applied over the permanent color treatment for extra durability. However, aside from being a little pricey, the pimping process entails shipping your 3G to ColorWare in Minnesota for 2 weeks to undergo the process. It should also be noted that doing such will void your Apple warranty.
Still, that didn’t stop us from toying with the personalization page to mock up our own would-be creation. While it might not be as cool as getting the real thing, the total savings of $230 will go a long way towards our AT&T bill.

VOID the warranty!!! what a bummer!! oh well guess no one will be pimping out there Iphone 3G.
I can see two problems with this form of pumping out an iPhone. Voiding of warranty is a factor due to replacement price ( I have an iPhone 3G S 33GB = high replacement cost AT&T said close to a grand). The second problem I see is who can go without their phone for 2 weeks? Mine is almost constantly in use.
If there were more locations and parts already done I think it would really help. Just a little advise from one buismess owner to another.
