In France a similar system (Coyote) works great. It functions with a small dash mounted GPS device and constantly updates info as you drive. Then when you see a trap you push a button to add/confirm a strap. Last summer I used it on a trip in Europe and it seems to work superbly thanks to loyal follower "inputer". Hope that Trapster will succeed with proactive customer: spread the word and add traps when you see them.

This seems like a great app. I downloaded it to my phone but haven't signed up yet. I checked out the demo though, and I think even just the alerts regarding those annoying traffic light cameras will be way worth it. I live in Chicago and they're everywhere.

Thanks so much for the clarifications, Trapster folks! I was indoors when I was playing with it. Is it WIFI that messes things up?

Hi Jeff, thanks for the review. Just one note. The giant red circle indicates poor location fix, i.e. that the iPhone was unable to determine your GPS or Skyhook/WiFi location. Did you test indoors? If you bring the phone outdoors the giant red dot should become a small dot. That is why your whole town was a giant speed trap. As far as getting enough users in your town, get 5 friends to install and use it. 5 is more than enough in a little town!

Thanks again and see you on Trapster!
