AT&T Sells Used iPhones

December 18, 2008

I believe a cell phone - like boxer briefs, loofahs, and Jolly Ranchers - is a one owner type of item. You never know what the previous owner was like, how they treated your hand-me-down, or why they gave it up in the first place. AT&T has already scoffed at all of us that were forced in-store to activate our iPhones. Now they are selling refurbished iPhone 3G's at a discount online. You can get a refurbished 8 GB 3G for $149.99 and a 16 GB for $249.99. From what I have heard, Apple has a positive track record with refurbished goods. Those commenting at MacWorld have attested to Apple's history of good second-hand electronics. I don't know if the fifty buck discount is worth wondering how many times your new iPhone has been dropped, or what the previous owner's cheek looked like. Or how clean the side of their face was while using your new touch screen, but if you're looking for another way to save a few bucks on this year's hottest phone, here it is.
