Google Mobile’s Secret

Remember CD’s with secret songs? The last track would be like twenty minutes long, and the last five or so was an unlisted, “bonus” number. The good folks at Google have left one more present under the tree, and it’s what I would call an app version of the secret song.

It’s nothing Earth-shattering, although some of you may be scratching your head, wondering why you haven’t found it yet. I don’t think it has been there all along — I think it was slipped in with the most recent update a couple of weeks ago. If so, those that balked at Google’s 0.3.143 update must feel chagrined with the discovery of a new menu in Settings – Bells and Whistles.

It takes a few tries but it’s really easy to get to. If you go to Settings and scroll down to the bottom of the page, it looks like the menu ends at About. But try scrolling below that, you’ll have to do it a couple of times, and Bells and Whistles will pop up. From there, well, you can change a few of the Apps bells and whistles. Good job, Google.

  1. I have version .144 and no matter what I do this won’t pop up. I really would like to have it. Any thoughts?

  2. You have to try and touch below the About menu and slide down, do it like four or five times. I have version .144 and it worked for me.

  3. I did it! Thank you, Eric. A couple questions, if I may. What are Live Waveform and Open Links in App? And when do Sounds go off in the App, or are these sounds for more than just the App? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
