Adobe CEO Says Flash On The iPhone Is A Challenge

The iPhone’s inability to display Flash based websites has proven to be one of the biggest Achilles heels for Apple’s popular smartphone. Steve Jobs has said that Flash, in its current state, runs too poorly on the iPhone and that Flash Lite isn’t even an option. So where does that leave us, the users, in the battle to get Flash on the iPhone?
Bloomberg has reported that Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen, revealed they are currently working on a solution to the problem.
“It’s a hard technical challenge, and that’s part of the reason Apple and Adobe are collaborating,” said Narayen in a Bloomberg Television interview from the World Economic Forum adding “The ball is in our court. The onus is on us to deliver.”
Back in November 2008, Adobe announced they were partnering with ARM to create an optimized version of Flash for the ARM11 processor, the same processor that the iPhone currently uses.
This doesn’t necessarily mean we will be seeing Flash for the iPhone anytime soon, it just means we don’t have to blame Steve Jobs any longer. Who knows, we may even see Silverlight on the iPhone before Flash.
