SlingPlayer Mobile On The Verge Of Release?

April 27, 2009

Could this be it?  Are we about to finally witness the greatness that SlingPlayer Mobile for the iPhone has been hyped up to be?  Sling Media has placed a small blurb on their site that indicates they at least think so:
The team has been working hard to bring the SlingPlayer Mobile experience to the iPhone and iPod Touch. We've submitted the first release of our application to the iPhone App Store. We are in close contact with our partners at Apple and are optimistic that it will be approved soon. We hope the wait won’t be much longer. In the mean time, take a sneak peek!
The constantly discussed application has been rumored to be stuck in the approval process at the request of AT&T.  SlingPlayer Mobile is already available for other platforms on the AT&T network, but the issue seems to be with the iPhone because the iPhone's install base is very large and very willing to use bandwidth, something AT&T has been known to be short of. As always, we will just have to wait and see.  This could simply be their way of quieting the rumors that have spread across the web for just a little while longer.  Sling Media has been extremely short on details surrounding the approval of SlingPlayer Mobile for the iPhone, but at least this is some indication that they haven't been pocket rejected.
