slingplayer SlingPlayer Submitted To App Store

It has been over six months since Sling Media originally announced they would be bringing their SlingPlayer Mobile to the iPhone.  The often asked for application is already available on many other mobile platforms, and Sling Media promised its customers the iPhone version would be ready before the end of the quarter.  Well, it seems they made their deadline with little time to spare, because Sling Media submitted the application to Apple on March 26th.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that you will be seeing SlingPlayer Mobile for your iPhone anytime soon, it’s up to Apple to get it into your hands now.  There is also no confirmation on what the application may be priced at, but it’s possible that it could carry a $29.95 price tag, which is the lifetime fee for SlingPlayer on other mobile platforms.

SlingPlayer Mobile will allow you to remotely access your Slingbox, giving you the ability to control your home TV, watch TV on-the-go, manage your DVR, and even add or remove favorite channels.

We will keep our eyes peeled for any indication as to when the application will be available at the App Store. In the meantime, cross those fingers.

  1. Ha! April Fools right… guess it would have been better to say Sling Player now on App Store.

  2. Though the timing of the article may be funny, I can assure you this is no prank. Sling has had this page posted since the 26th

  3. I am not personally fond of April fools so don’t expect any pranks from me today. However, if I make a mistake in a post somewhere today you better believe I will try to pass it off as a joke. :-)
