rejected Apple Rejects NIN app Update

Trent Reznor, the man behind the music of Nine Inch Nails, posted a twitter update saying the app update for the NIN app, nin: access, has been denied:

Apple rejects the NIN iPhone update because it contains objectionable content. The objectionable content referenced is “The Downward Spiral”

Without any other information to go on, can we assertain that Apple denied the update due to a possible copyright or trademark violation by using the words “The Downward Spiral”? Or is the problem with the app update deeper than that? Either way, this isn’t the most shocking rejection in recent history, or the last.

  1. I think it’s pretty clear that what it means is that “The Downward Spiral” contains objectionable content (language). Never mind that you can already buy “The Downward Spiral” on iTunes — they also rejected the South Park app for the same thing, when you can buy South Park episodes on iTunes anyway.

  2. That’s totally lame! I want to see what else they were going to add. That’s such a cool app as it is.
