We first learned about Mass Effect for the iPhone and iPod touch not from the developers themselves, but from a beta tester who just couldn’t follow the rules and decided to go against their non-disclosure agreement and release some inside information.  Not long after this incident, a member of the BioWare team decided to clear up a bit of the confusion and shine a little more light on the unreleased game.  Today, we have been given even more information regarding Mass Effect for the iPhone thanks to its publisher, EA Mobile.

EA Mobile has just created a new page on their website dedicated to all things Mass Effect Galaxy.  When the title was first revealed via the beta tester, the game was being called Mass Effect: Jacob’s Story, but they have now changed the title.  Here is a description of the game along with a few bullet points directly from the page:

The award-winning Mass Effect game universe has now arrived on your iPhone and iPod touch! Tales of human courage and individual human achievement resound through the galaxy. Here is your opportunity to play the story of Jacob Taylor, a biotic-powered super-soldier who stumbles across a plot to terrorize civilization’s greatest beacon of hope, the mighty Citadel space station. Can you prevent a heinous attack that threatens to knock humanity off the galactic stage?

  • Gripping storyline that enables you, playing super-soldier Jacob Taylor, to prevent galactic chaos!
  • Stylish art presentation delivers an animated graphic novel experience!
  • A blend of nuanced story telling with gripping top-down shooter combat!
  • Experience the back-story behind some of the main characters in the upcoming Mass Effect 2 game (for Xbox 360 and PC).

Few other details exist at this point, but you can be sure that EA along with BioWare will be showing off more of this title at this year’s E3 Expo.

We have included the screenshots from EA Mobile’s page below, and we are well aware that the screenshots are small in size, but don’t blame the messenger, that’s the way they posted them.
