Remotely Control uTorrent With Your iPhone

May 14, 2009

If you are looking for a way to control uTorrent remotely on your iPhone, there is still hope.  No, it's not an application that can be installed on your iPhone from the App Store, because we all know by now that Apple won't allow such things, but it operates essentially like an application and you don't have to pay for it.

This isn't just a simple application install as I mentioned before, so you must follow a series of instructions located on davidraso.com. There you can download and install everything you need, such as the uTorrent WebUI and the uPhone UI.  Once you have followed the instructions and done everything properly, you will be able to login to your uTorrent online through your iPhone to check the current status of your active torrents, pause and/or resume a download, and add new torrent files.  All of this is done through your mobile browser.

It needs to be mentioned that the creator of this iPhone optimized web interface did this on his free time and he can't guarantee it will work exactly as expected, because there are a few bugs remaining when calculating and sorting torrents, but it does work.  He intends to add more features in the future.

If this seems right up your alley, give it a try and tell us what you think.  Be aware that there are quite a few steps, so this isn't for the faint of heart if you have never dealt with the uTorrent WebUI, but if you have, it should be fairly painless.
