There will be no more random screenshots, no more preview videos, and no more price guessing because The Sims 3 for the iPhone and iPod touch is finally available in the App Store.

It has been a long time coming, but the wait is finally over.  The Sims 3 for the iPhone allows you to create and manage your very own Sim any way you deem fit.  First, you must choose a personality for your Sim, then you can add the physical characteristics, and finally you must accessorize your Sim to make it your own.

The game features an open-world 3D environment that allows you to do whatever you wish.  You can fall in love, pick a fight, cause mischief all over town, and even talk to trees.  Don’t forget, you must also take care of your Sim by fulfilling their basic needs with food, sleep, and bathroom breaks.  The Sims 3 features 73 goals and wishes for your Sim with activities like socializing with other Sims, making home repairs, gardening, and cooking.  There is enough to do in the game to keep you playing for hours on end.

On top of all of this, The Sims 3 will eventually be receiving in-game downloads, so the fun has literally just begun.  You will just have to wait until sometime after iPhone OS 3.0 drops.

The Sims 3 is available in the App Store for $9.99.

  1. The game is fantastic! Full gorgeous 3D, smooth animations, entertaining goals system, unlimited life-span, intuitive controls, customization, built-in mini-games, and so on. To say no more, the iPhone’s Sims 3 is way much better than the first original one on PC (imho).

There are a few minor problems, though. Sometimes framerate drops down (not critical, but still), and as a result controls become somewhat lousy.

For some people out there the whole game might be too simple; not that there is nothing to do, but rather an abundance of choices. Well, maybe later in the game this is going to change.

In-game sound is somewhat scarce. You won’t hear much of “life” going on. I’ve expected more to be heard.

One unpleasant bug was discovered during cooking mini-game: when I was “shaking pots” my sim’s fridge suddenly broke and camera shifted to its direction in a way that I couldn’t even see the playfield anymore. So if a trouble happens during a mini-game, you’re going to loose. :(

And the last but not least, the game sucked up the battery in a matter of an hour or so.

Overall impression, however, is overwhelming. The game itself is rock solid (no crashes for me so far), the gameplay is captivating, the picture is very pleasant. This is kind of a game I wouldn’t regret paying $9.99! It worth each and every penny!

    • I have the game and from the few hours i played it, i like it.. the only issue i have is that it freezes and i have to restart the game again, it has froze a few times after about 15-20 mins of gameplay.. it is just me or is anyone else having this issue.

      • Mine freezes every time when I try to create my character, so I still have not experienced the game. I have iPhone 3G, and I can only hope that after the OS 3.0 upgrade this problem will be solved. Otherwise, I just wasted $9.99

  2. As Anthony I am having alot of crashes, other then that the overall gameplay is awesome and well worth the $9.99!

  3. I am also having this freezing issue, except mine freezes about every 2 minutes!

I would like to play.. but is is quite annoying.

    HELP!

  4. how do you get a garden??? plz help

    • You need to upgrade your house in order to get a plantable vegetable patch, it appears outside your back door and looks like a number of upright sticks. The upgrade becomes available a couple of days in, you will get a notification, it costs $1000 I think, you access it as if you were purchasing furniture. Hope this helps.
