Well this is it, this is what you all have been waiting for. The
AppAwards winners have finally been announced!
It probably goes without saying, but the competition was fierce, so we would like to congratulate ALL of the hardworking developers who were nominated for this year's AppAwards. The App Store contains over 60,000 apps right now and only 252 were nominated, so give yourself a solid pat on the back even if your app didn't win.
We would also like to thank all of our readers who participated in the AppAwards festivities this week. The first annual AppAwards turned out to be a huge success. Over 50,000 votes were tallied and tons of great prizes were given away. We would also like to specifically thank our non-U.S. participants, because you still showed up and participated without being eligible for some of the great prizes. That is dedication.
Since there were so many categories and apps up for awards this year, we will only list the App of the Year (Paid) and App of the Year (Free) winners in this post:

UPDATE: Apparently we are having some browser incompatibilities. Safari 4.0.x is your best choice at this point. Internet Explorer 8 and Firefox 3.5.1 won't display any of the expandable categories (everything after "Most Innovative UI"). Hang tight, we are currently trying to remedy this issue.
UPDATE 2: We have just expanded all of the categories, so you should be able to view the winners with any browser.
