This weekend has become the weekend of App Store sales.  Tons of apps have been placed on sale in celebration of the App Store’s birthday, and we can now add the newly released Boxcar to that list.

Boxcar is a push-enabled Twitter app, at least in a sense.  The app is able to push Twitter mentions and direct messages straight to your iPhone or iPod touch within minutes.  Since Boxcar isn’t a full featured Twitter app, there is a setting that allows you to open your favorite Twitter app (Tweetie and Twitterrific are the only supported apps) straight from the push notification itself.  This way you can just place Boxcar on the last page of your device and forget about it.  It will do its job without ever having to access it again.

Boxcar is originally priced at $2.99, but it is on sale for only $1.99, which puts it on par with another push-enabled Twitter app, iTweetReply.

Boxcar and all other push-enabled apps can be found on our Apps That Push You AppList.

That’s a first for me. Can anyone else download this?

  2. It’s not on sale right now. Does anyone think this is a good pick up? I’m hoping Tweetie’s update comes out soon with push support. There’s rumors of a Tweetie 2.0 on the horizon.

  3. It’s definitely on sale, it’s just that it doesn’t seem to have hit all of the servers yet. On my end everything looks fine. Maybe just give it some more time, these things sometimes take a while to happen.

  4. Comment #1 I had the same problem on my phone. Go to your desktop and download it there. It worked for me doing this. Cheers
