Developer Phantom Fish has slashed the price of their popular RSS news reader, Byline, by 60% to celebrate its first birthday on the App Store, but the sale is for one day only.
Byline is able to synchronize new items, starred items, notes, and folders from your free Google Reader account. The interface is extremely easy to use, allowing you to easily browse through folders from Google Reader. Byline also allows you to access articles offline, including embedded images, allowing it to be more effective on devices like the iPod touch. Byline is normally price at $4.99, but it is now available in the App Store for $1.99 until the end of July 11th.
Sales are great and all, but so is getting free stuff, that is why I saved the best for last. In addition to the sale price, the first 40 people to forward their iTunes Byline receipts to Phantom Fish will receive a promo code allowing them to give a free second copy to a friend. Surprisingly they didn’t include which email address to forward the receipt to, so we will just assume it is: support [at] phantomfish [dot] com. If you are lucky enough to receive a free promo code, feel free to leave a comment below telling us which method of contact worked for you so others can quickly and easily obtain their free code.
UPDATE: The best way to get your free code is to forward your receipt to birthday [at] phantomfish [dot] com. Apparently the support email address listed above is alright to use as well, so if you already submitted your receipt to that one, you should be just fine.

I use Readello, a free Google reader
someone needs to come out with an RSS reader with Push already
Do it yourself with Prowl and Google Reader Notifier. I don’t really see the point since RSS isn’t a push concept, it’s more of a “hey the bus won’t be here for another 5 minutes and I need something to read” concept.
I’ve been using Byline since back when it had a wood-trim theme, have tried most of the Google Reader clients on the iPhone, and feel that Byline is excellent and easily one of the best. As an iPhone developer myself I very much appreciate the work that goes into creating something like this. Very well done, Phantom Fish!
I use this app everyday. This is currently the best google reader syncable app out there right now. If only it had push.
