Developer AppMobi has just released a new app called PhotoBeamer that allows you to easily send and receive photos over Bluetooth, and they also offer a companion app that allows your recipient to receive the photos for free.
PhotoBeamer allows you to choose whether or not your recipient can save the photos to their device, and it also allows you to send a photo to up to 3 people at once. If your recipient doesn’t own a copy of PhotoBeamer, you can simply have them download the free companion app BeamCatcher. BeamCatcher isn’t able to send any photos, but it sure can receive.
As with all peer-to-peer Bluetooth apps, PhotoBeamer requires iPhone OS 3.0 and an iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, or a second generation iPod touch.
PhotoBeamer is now available in the App Store for $.99. We have also added it to our Peer-To-Peer Apps AppList.
Since PhotoBeamer deals with photos, I tried to find a download code to giveaway that also has something to do with photos, and I think Appy Newz is a solid choice. To win a download code for Appy Newz, simply leave a relevant comment about this post or about Appy Newz. The winner will be chosen randomly at the end of the day today. Please remember to include your email address so we can contact the winner.
Don’t forget to vote for your favorite apps on our AppAwards page for your chance to win the $150 grand prize package!

Looks like the perfect app to avoid paying for those types of photos at Six Flags.
hmm..this looks great..especially with all my friends with iPod touches and iPhones living around me.
So You share photos with this app.
Another app that won’t work on my iTouch 1G. It’s gonna be a rough wait til Fall.
Appy Newz? I thought it was an app about app news.
That does look like a useful app actually. It’d be good to be able to use bluetooth for something. My housemates are always bluetoothing each other photos and ringtones and whatnot
The joys of sharing experiences and when you are sharing a thousand words ( a photo
) it can be that much better.
Appy Newz sounds interesting…
This might be worth $.99 I like the fact that the BeamCatcher is free. It’s about impossible to talk my cheap ass friends into spending $.99 on the spot to buy an app that supports peer to peer. This whole peer to peer business is all well and good, but with all the copycats in the appstore it is really lucky when two people meet and actually have the same paid application and the desire to share something.
Does this app work with the Polaroid mini printers?
Finally some bluetooth transfer! And nice the “catcher” app is free too!
Looks like a cool photo sharing app.
Anyone have a review on this application? How well does it work? Im guessing that the application only does photos though.
After having a look at the details of this app, it actually appears to be quite useful. I like that it keeps the same image resolution and that you can control whether or not your friends can save the photos. As others have said, something like this should be built into the OS.
Pretty cool, I can see myself using this with friends.
This only works between iPhones/iPods? No ability to send a photo to another phone, PC or printer?
I have tested this iphone iphone and it works a treat.
Congrats to our Appy Newz winner, Matthew! Your download code has been sent via email.
Looks like a good way to kill a few minutes and get a couple of laughs.
I wonder again Bluetooth is not quiet working for me.
Wow! I always have so many images that I want to send to my friends but it’s just too difficult. PhotoBeamer looks like it solves that problem. And BeamCatcher? Now I really have to upgrade to 3.0!
I also love apps like Appy Newz, where you can edit template images and put in faces and stuff… lots of fun!
Please try “Big Canvas PhotoBeamer”, which offers a very similar functionality, but is free and a lot easier to use. Here is the app store link.

Satoshi’s app severely compresses your photos and does not allow multiple devices at once. The appMobi PhotoBeamer app allows up to 3 viewers at a time, sends your full-size images, and supports pan and zoom in the viewer.
