Happy birthday App Store!

appawards2Today marks the one-year anniversary of the launch of Apple’s App Store.  Apple started to celebrate this grand achievement a little early by sporting a new page in the App Store dedicated to their favorite games and apps. We will also be getting in on the celebration, and we are asking our readers to join us.  We have launched a new page for our first annual AppAwards where you will be able to vote for you favorite apps.  Voting begins on July 13th, so mark it on your calendar.  Happy birthday App Store!

AppAdvice Facebook page

facebookpageFacebook is currently enjoyed by millions of people, and not so surprisingly many of our writers and readers are a part of those millions.  Because of this, we decided to create our very own AppAdvice Facebook page.  Now, we are not sure about what direction this new page is headed in, but apparently many of you are excited about the possibilities as we have had over 190 of you join us.  We would like to thank all of our current and future Facebook fans for taking the time out of their busy lives to sign up, and we promise we will do our best to keep you entertained.

Pushing

itweetreplyOur Apps That Push You AppList is by far the most popular AppList that we have thanks to the sheer amount of you wanting information about the the latest apps with push notifications.  The list was populated with quite a few new apps this week, including Trapster, NotifyMe, Boxcar, iTwitter, and iTweetReply.  Three out of those five are push-capable Twitter apps, and you can rest assured that many, many more will follow.  What else can be said other than we want our push notifications!

It’s fun to play with others

tictactouchBeing able to play a game against a friend or even foe wirelessly on your iPhone or iPod touch is a joy.  Being able to play over a Bluetooth connection is even better because you don’t have to locate a Wi-Fi connection.  iSamurai and Tic-Tac-Touch: FS5 were both updated this week with the ability to play wirelessly over Bluetooth, but as always the downside is that only the newer idevices are able to take advantage of this feature.  We wish that this wasn’t the case, but we will take what we can get.

New and noteworthy apps

gangstarFreeverse listened to its customers cries and updated Postman to version 2.0, which sports a brand new interface and tons of other worthy additions.  Gameloft announced their new sandbox-style game for the iPhone called Gangstar: West Coast Hustle, and simply judging from the screenshots, this one is going to be a big hit.  Raizlabs Corporation released a new app called VideoUp for iPhone that allows you to quickly and easily upload videos to Facebook directly from your iPhone 3GS.  Those hardworking guys at CollegeKidApp.com released their very first iPhone app called Battery Go!.  The app is already a big success, easily breaking into the top 100 paid apps.
