AppAwards week rocks

appawards3Our first annual AppAwards started off with a bang and hopefully it will end with one too.  Voting ends on July 19th, so go vote if you haven’t already on our official page.  We also have a iPhone friendly version for you road warriors.  The iPhone app developer community has been kind to us, donating hundreds of dollars worth of apps to our cause which we have been passing along to you.  Thankfully none of those apps are rated 17+ because we wouldn’t have any promo codes to hand out!  We would like to thank everyone who has participated so far, but it’s not over yet, so keep voting!

Two new Applists for you

roadwarriortowerapplistsApplists are our thing, it’s just what we do.  We unleashed two new Applists on you this week and we hope you like them.  The new Road Warrior Applist contains apps that can not only help you get from city to city, but also to help you connect with the world back home or wherever you are.  The new Tower Defense Games Applist features only the best tower defense games available in the App Store, so check it out if you are looking for something new.

Updates galore

harbormaster_cannonbeachWe have all kinds of updates for you this week.  iTunes was updated to 8.2.1, which brought upon the death of Pre syncing.  Apple released iPhone OS 3.1 beta 2 to developers. Real Racing is now even better with six-player multiplayer and new cars. Freeverse’s Grunts finally has save points.  Harbor Master was invaded by pirates, which helped it fly up the top paid apps charts.  Parachute Panic went from being ridiculously difficult to just somewhat difficult with the addition of an easy mode.

Can’t get enough of those push notifications

joinmeThe free chat app Nimbuzz was updated with the ability to receive push notifications, but just like eBuddy, it only stays logged in for 30 minutes.  The major Twitter apps like Tweetie and Twittelator Pro are still without push, which has left the door open for other Twitter apps to beat them to the punch like Twitbit.  The location tracking app JoinMe was updated with the ability to receive push notifications when another user wants to track you.  Check out more push-capable apps in our Apps That Push You Applist.

New releases

moondropNimbleBit’s Moon Drop landed in the App Store this week and we played it until our hands hurt.  The popular jailbreak app TuneWiki made it’s official App Store debut. Resident Evil: Degeneration and Real Soccer ’09 both got the “lite” treatment.  EA entered the extremely popular casual game market with their new title Zombies & Me.  Team17 released an iPhone version of the classic turn-based strategy game Worms.
