There are lots of ways to consume the news on iPhone and our newest applist, Apps For News Junkies, should help you find the best way that fit your needs.
Download one or download them all.
Let us know if there’s an app you think we should include on the list. I should put a caveat here, though. I didn’t want the list overwhelmed by RSS Readers so I just put Byline. There’s are many others out there and if you use one of those you probably have a good reason. Feel free to let me know why in the comments, but it’ll need to be a pretty compelling case for me to add it to a list.
Check out the list here.

Did you guys happen to compare the new update to ‘Newsstand’ against this list? I’m trying to decide if I should get that or ‘Byline’ once the new NetNewsWire that sync’s with Google Reader comes out (that’s assuming NNW for iPhone is not as good).
I had not tested the Newsstand update. Trying it now.
My initial reaction is that it’s a really really tough call. Newsstand has an awesome interface, but I don’t know how it works for offline browsing. Byline appears to have more complete offline browsing, which is what’s important when it compares to Google Reader’s web interface (i.e., viewing your starred items for read it later). The problem with both apps is they’re just not as fast at viewing the full articles. Safari using Google Reader is quicker at loading web pages.
Thanks Ian! That is very helpful. Offline reading is definitely nice and I can see how that would be useful to a lot of people. Even though speed can be an issue, I think a lot of people like to have a native reader with a better UI. Thanks again for your thoughts.
i fail to understand why these lists continue to omit iNews. Of the non-Google-Reader RSS readers, It beats them all.
