It's been widely reported that the next generation iPod touch will be receiving a camera upgrade, which many have said will be announced and displayed at the rumored September 9th media event.  It has also been reported, albeit to a lesser extent, that the iPod nano could  be receiving the same camera upgrade.  But according to DigiTimes, Apple hasn't forgotten about their lone hard drive-based media player, the iPod classic.

OmniVision will be the sole supplier of 3.2-megapixel CIS products for new iPod nano, iPod classic and iPod Touch models which will be launched in September, the sources indicated.

Omnivision is also one of of the 3.2MP camera suppliers for the iPhone 3GS.

If the rumors are true, this would mean that the iPod classic will be sticking around for at least one more life cycle.  If that's the case, do you really think Apple would just slap on a camera?  Or is it more likely that they will go the extra mile and boost its capacity or maybe even change its design?
