If you have a large amount of iPhone and iPod touch apps, organizing them or reorganizing them can be a daunting task, but that may be all about to change with iTunes 9.

Boy Genius Report received a tip from a “pretty reliable source” claiming to have knowledge of a few new features that will be included in iTunes 9.  One of the new features is said to be Blu-ray support, which is great news for Mac owners, but what we are really interested in is the rumored ability to visually organize and arrange apps.  They also stated that some sort of Twitter, Facebook, and Last.fm integration is in store, but no other details were given.

Their source didn’t give an iTunes 9 launch time frame, but in recent years Apple has held special events to update its iPod line along with iTunes sometime in the month of September, so it is possible that these new features could be making an appearance sooner rather than later.

Anyone else super excited for this new ability in iTunes?

  1. I don’t really need bluray the social network things is just bells and whistles but of the app organization turns out to be true it is a must have.

  2. I’d be more excited if apps could be organised into folder on the iPhone/Touch. Given the number of apps that some people may have (myself included), eleven pages isn’t really enough! Still, it will be handy to be able to organise apps in a way that suits me.

  3. I agree with Sheila, I wish I could group apps into a folder

  4. jailbreak your phone and install categories. Works great and you can even put categories within categories.
