AT&T Enabling MMS A Little Early For Some iPhone Users

I am certain some of you have already marked the date on your calendar, but for those of you who are unaware, AT&T will be enabling MMS for all iPhone 3G and 3GS users on September 25th.  Some iPhone users, however, are reporting that MMS is already enabled on their devices without any jailbreaking or hacking.

The reports have been widespread, ranging from all kinds of users in all reaches of the country, so there is no sure way of telling if MMS is enabled on your device without simply checking.  To see if your device is already MMS enabled, go into Settings > General > Network.  Within the Network menu, if there is a Cellular Data Network menu, you can start sending MMS.  Another surefire way to find out if MMS is enabled is to simply go into the Messages app and look for a camera icon.  If it’s there, you are also good to go.

If you find yourself MMS-less at this point, just hang in there, the 25th isn’t that far out.

Any AppAdvice readers out there have MMS enabled yet?  If so, feel free to let us know by rubbing it in in the comments section below.

  2. I’ve got cellular data network menu but all entries/settings are blank. I tried resetting network settings, but nothing filled blank spaces in menu. Any ideas anyone?

    • I’m in the same boat. Have all the MMS stuff but I get errors when trying to send and still get pictures with the ViewMyMessage link instead of image.

  3. MMS is working for me now after updating carrier file

  4. never worked with swirly UNTIL NOW!! Wuhoo!! Just try different settings and you’ll find the one that works. I tried inputting settings that worked with swirly into cell data network menu, after uninstalling swirly and it DID NOT WORK! :’-( I repeat, send AND receive WORK with swirlymms!!!!

I do not have a jailbroken phone, and I did this update using itunes 9 and iphone 3.1

  7. I have the camera icon but no Cellular Data Network menu :(

  8. I had previously tried the carrier update about 2 months ago and nothing. Well I just rebooted my iphone and MMS is there and working for me. I can’t send to another iphone that doesn’t have it working but if I send one to myself it works great. I can also send and receive from non-iphones. Cool!!
