Instead of waiting until after Apple releases the iPhone 3.1 update, the Dev-Team has decided to warn all of you unlockers about the problems associated with hitting that little update button within iTunes beforehand.
According to the Dev-Team:
If you update to Apple’s new software using the normal iTunes process, you will lose your ultrasn0w unlock. In fact you may lose it permanently, because for most people the baseband firmware cannot be reverted to a previous version (unlike the main application CPU firmware).
But don’t worry…our PwnageTool program let’s you update your main firmware without touching your baseband firmware, so you can still have the best of both worlds. But you must be diligent about saying “no” to your iTunes request this week to update your firmware.
So, when iPhone OS 3.1 is finally released, which the Dev-Team assumes will be this week, and you intend to unlock your device, resist the temptation until you get the green light from them. You have been warned.

Most people are saying 3.1 won’t be for another few weeks — like September 25th-ish when AT&T has said they will enable MMS finally.
Well AT&T was late. I wonder if Apple will wait for their sorry asses?

I have the same problem! My phone got updated to the new 3.1 firmware and now my phone won’t jailbreak again! I think and hope DEV team comes out with the new jailbreak software for 3.1 soon!! I’ve read that they might do it sometime this week but I don’t know for certain.. DAMN APPLE and DAMN UPDATE!!!!!
I know that you can call people on the iphone and not the itouch, but what else is different? For example, do both of them have internet? If so, do you pay extra fees for the internet? Or does it come with the package? Please give information about other applications as well! I’m planning on getting one…don’t know which yet…so yeah. Thanks!

I put my simcard in this new iphone. I don’t have an iphone plan. How can I get Safari, Youtube, and Facebook as well as my other applications to work? Calling and Text messaging works, however; the majority of my applications do not work.I just want at least internet and shazam and I should be good.

I have an iPhone 3G, it’s registered. I have an iTunes library of songs which used to be on my iPod Nano, so how can I sync those songs into my iPhone? I pressed “sync” but it won’t work, the iPod part of the iPhone says there is no music content and I don’t know how to get the songs onto the iPhone. It’s an 8GB iPhone I have the latest verison of iTunes and all of the updates.
