The NFL’s regular season is set to begin, which means fantasy football season is in full swing.  You have drafted your players, set your starters, and are probably just itching to see how well you have crafted your team.  But this is only the beginning of the season, you need to manage your way through 17 stressful weeks to claim victory, and if you are part of ESPN’s fantasy football league, it should only get easier thanks to their new iPhone and iPod touch app.

ESPN Releases Fantasy Football 09ESPN Fantasy Football 2009 contains tons of great features that should help you dominate your league.  The app allows you to add, drop, start, bench, trade, and claim players off of waivers.  You can also watch your scores and stats in real-time, along with the ability to view your weekly matchups to see what lies ahead.  Unlike Yahoo!’s free fantasy football offering, you can even post to message boards and get Push Notifications for injured players, substitutions, and scoring updates.

It’s worth nothing that you must have an ESPN fantasy football team already created to use the app, it can not be done from the app itself.

ESPN Fantasy Football 2009 isn’t free like Yahoo!’s offering, however.  It is going to cost you $4.99, so I guess you have to decide how much real-time scoring and team management is worth to you while on the go.

  1. This app is pretty much everything a fantasy player could ask for. It’s a little buggy right now but I expect ESPN to fix it. I’m sure they put a rush job on it to have it ready for the first week of NFL football.
I would live it if they would allow is to post pictures and videos to the mesage boards. And they really need to take out the ads. There is no reason a $4.99 paid app should have ads. I understand that they provide us with free ad drivin fantasy football. But I think we soak in enough ads on the desktop version. The iPhone has very limited screen space and ads realy take away from that.
