MobileNavigator To Get Live Traffic Data, But It'll Cost You

Navigon's MobileNavigator for the iPhone was recently updated with text-to-speech, a feature that TomTom's turn-by-turn app is sorely lacking, and now they have decided to pile it on with a new live traffic data feature.  The only downside is that it'll cost you. The new feature, which is being called Navigon Traffic Live, will provide users with precise real-time traffic information pulled from over one million drivers across the country.  It will also use information from traffic cameras, speed sensors, and conventional traffic messages. The in-app add-on will be available sometime in October for the one-time price of $24.99.  However, it will be discounted for the first four weeks of availability for only $19.99. It will be interesting to see how TomTom, and every other navigation app developer for that matter, is able to respond to this recent duo of updates.  TomTom has said they will be adding these necessary features via updates, but they have yet to come through with those promises.  This is actually a great opportunity for them considering Navigon's add-on will cost at least another $19.99, which will put the price of the app around $110.  If TomTom could issue an update that contained both of these new features for the price of, say... nothing, then they will definitely be back in the running.  Until then, it looks like Navigon has this whole navigation iPhone app thing figured out. On that note, would you consider paying an extra $19.99 or $24.99 for live traffic data? [Image via CNet]
