Elgato has been providing Mac users with the ability to watch and record television shows since 2002, and now they have decided to bring more of the same functionality to iPhone users with their new EyeTV app. eyetv_screenElgato's brand new EyeTV app allows you to watch live TV and recordings on any iPhone or iPod touch running iPhone OS 3.0 or later.  The app is able to access the EyeTV software running on your Mac at home via local or remote Wi-Fi connections.  From the app, you can watch live TV, change channels, watch your own EyeTV recordings, browse the comprehensive program guide, start recordings back home on your Mac or schedule them for a later time, and view and edit your recording schedules. The EyeTV app is able to connect to any Mac running EyeTV 3.2, and can automatically find a Mac on a local network using Apple's Bonjour.  The app is also able to access a Mac remotely via Elgato's new free locator utility, My EyeTV. Elgato currently offers two different TV tuners for your Mac, the EyeTV Hybrid and EyeTV 250 Plus.  The former is priced at $149 and the latter at $199, and both require at least a PowerPC G4-based Mac.  To stream live TV, however, you must be running a Mac with at least an Intel Core 2 Duo processor. The EyeTV app is now available in the App Store for $4.99. Are any of you current EyeTV owners willing to give this a try for a measly $4.99?  And for those of you who don't currently own an EyeTV, is the ability to stream live TV from your Mac to your iPhone enticing enough to purchase the hardware?
