ibm-debuts-food-traceability-iphone-app

IBM announced that it will be doing demos on a new App that is supposed to help you figure out what you eat.

The app is called Breadcrumps and the idea behind it is to allow you to scan grocery food bar codes and provide you with as much information as possible concerning the product. Pretty much what’s written on the other side of the wrapping.

As suppliers along the chain update their systems, soon you might be able to find out where the sausage that you just put in your hot dog comes from or the name of the pig it was made of.

Jokes aside, IBM is looking into what’s called the Internet of Things, or connecting real world objects to the internet. Basically by scanning this face cream in the grocery store you could be able to find out that there are some unexpected effects or that it’s been positively reviewed by customers.

What do you think? Personally I don’t think I would have time to do that with my groceries…
