I’ve told you some time ago about Lala’s iPhone music app, well it’s closer than we thought as it’s been already submitted to Apple and some people had the honor of previewing it.

I must admit that I was a bit skeptical at first, I like the 10 cents price tag which is I believe a fair price but the fact that it doesn’t really make you the owner of the song is a deal breaker to me. Nevertheless many people actually think it’s a great idea and particularly the “put your library in the cloud” function.

TechCrunch got an ad-hoc built and made a little video preview :

What’s really interesting is the ability of the app to pre-cache a certain amount of songs using some “AI algorithm” which should keep you covered for a while if you were to loose the connection.

Also I received some questions about how can they make the songs so cheap. Well, it depends of the licensing deals they’ve got, from what I know Rhapsody for example pays $0.0091 every time someone listens to a song and Napster $0.01406288.
