[...] The app, Rdio, that mysteriously surfaced today, is apparently an unlimited music application that would let you listen to a large catalogue of streamed music. Nobody really knows how it’s going to look or what it’s going to cost and it could maybe be very similar to Spotify or Lala. [...]

Sure, you can do it w/ iDisk..... FOR A PRICE! Even if you do have a MobileMe acct., the space is limited... I've not heard about any Lala limitations on that front.

Also, the iDisk implementation on the iPhone is WEAK. Can't even play more than 1 song in a row without jumping back to file view.

I say, bring on Lala!!!!

Lala.com is one of my favorite music sites --- unlike other streaming services, I don't have to have my computer on to listen on my iPod Touch. I do, however, need an Internet connection.

There is a loss of quality when comparing streamed music against downloaded, so consumers should be aware of that.

Awesome news, if LaLa comes to the App Store.

I have been using Lala.com or a while and it is an excellent service. After signing up, you run an application that analyzes your Music folder and (if it finds a song already in Lala's database) adds it to your online library or (if a song is NOT in Lala's library) uploaded a copy of it to the server.

When songs are purchased online as an MP3 download (for $0.89, I believe), it is immediately added to your Lala library. Alternatively, you can purchase an actual CD (for a great price) and get the streaming songs immediately or just buy the streaming version for super-cheap.

An iPhone app is the best idea yet, as it will allow me to take streaming load off of my network (à la Simplify Music) and put it on another service, but still have control over exactly what I listen to (instead of Pandora or Last.fm being in ultimate control).
