Joe Hewitt, the famous developer behind the App Store’s Facebook app just announced that he will be moving on. He isn’t leaving Facebook but he announced that he handed off the project to another engineer.
It’s too bad indeed, the Facebook app became almost like an iPhone’s core functionality and we were very eager to see their Push Notifications deployment.
Hopefully they’ll be able to carry on with providing one of the App Store’s most popular apps.
You’ll be missed @joehewitt!

I use the facebook app so much that I sometimes even forget that its not a core function in the OS
If you read this Joe, thanks for all the hard work.
In my opinion thats a good move and people should start making more great iPhone apps directly accessible from within the browser. Theres more freedeom and apples rules are barely understandable… I am still waiting for a simple “Mark all email as read” function… While apple gives so much attention to stop people from making the iPhone even better they should consider to make the iPhone better themselves…
the app’s got a great foundation to build on – hopefully that will continue. One silly question and if you say “photoshop” then I’m dismayed cause I can’t find it in any settings menu- and I’m not jailbroke which might explain it all…. but how are you getting the facebook app to display that color in your screenshots?
I believe that was a beta version of Facebook 3
