The iPhone’s lack of native multitasking is in my opinion its only (or one of  its few) defects. Well, you can still play music while surfing the web and push notifications are probably a much better way to go when it comes to aim, nevertheless everybody would still like to see it happen.

There already are solutions to allow you to multitask thanks to the jailbreak, but the developer Aaron Ash came up with a neat new way to go around your apps, very much like on the Palm Pre.

It’s already live on Rock and should hit Cydia anytime now :

Interested?

  1. Nice !!!!

    Jailbreak time

    Multitasking and tethering :)

    Break free from A.t.t.pple

  2. Looks cool, but $4.99 is kind of expensive for a GUI that just uses backgrouder. Backgrounder is what does the multitasking and is already free… Still I guess it’s kind of neat to be able to quickly switch between apps. You pay for convenience…

    • Oh Yeah, you could also get Kirikae (from Cydia or Rock) and would be able to almost do the same thing that this “new” tool does… for FREE!!!

  3. Not excited about running multiple apps at all. I’m glad my iPhone isn’t running God knows how many useless apps in the background, draining my battery and ruining performance. I multi-task on my phone all the time. Since apps leave off where you were and they load up fast, what’s the big deal? Oh well. I think this, like people’s desire for a physical keyboard, is something I just don’t understand :)

  4. Agreed Dustin…

Battery life will suffer. It’s not something that I would want.

  5. I switched to iPhone after many months of considering whether the lack of multitasking would “hurt” me or not. I’ve had it two months now, and to be perfectly honest, I’ve never missed general purpose multitasking even once. There’s one game that takes a noticeable time to load when I return to it; otherwise, I really don’t see what the big deal is… And I don’t ever have my battery mysteriously dissipate because I opened Google Maps to check traffic and forgot to close it – as was the case on the Blackberry I had previously.
