Tom,
I'm almost certain that if you buy Live Traffic on one device, then you should have Live Traffic on every other device linked to that same iTunes account. You should get the message that says something to the effect of "you already own this item but press OK to download it again for free". Please post back if that's not the case. Thanks.

I have my Navigon app on three iPhones. I bought the app the day it came out.

If I buy Live Traffic on one, does it work on all my iPhones? Or does a person have to buy Live Traffic three times in my case anyway?

Thats IF Apple ever approves the App. We all know what happened to Google Voice. They could say that it interferes with Apple's native applications. I'd love to see a free Google Navigation app, but I frankly don't seeing going through the approval process, as it will murder the profiting companies such as TomTom, Navigon, nDrive, coPilot, etc.

Al,
Thanks for your comment. A great navigation app does not make a great smartphone, so going Droid just for an app is a bit extreme. If users find the current iPhone navigation options unacceptable, I'd recommend just hanging out. Google Navigation will eventually come to the iPhone. In the meantime, these early nav apps will get better with time. Thanks for your thoughts!

I just want to chime in on your remarks regarding the Traffic Live. For the first time ever I used it yesterday while driving on German Autobahns. Traffic Live reported plenty of congested roads, but was in two cases correct, while three other cases where completly wrong. Most annoying was a reported congestion with a reported delay of more than one hour. Interestingly there was no congestion at all. The system somehow didn't manage to record the direction of the congestion as the lane in the opposite direction indeed had the reported traffic jam.

Luckily I wsa using an onboard system in parallel. But this system only receives data via TMC, so shouldn't be too accurate. It turned out that the false congestion rate was much higher on the Navigon. But in case there really is something happening, than the data quality of the Navigon system was superb.

So it seems that Navigon has some wok to do. But for starters this is definitely the right direction.

Yes I downloaded this immediately when it became avalible and I had the same issue. Honestly, traffic wasn't that bad on the trip to and from work so further trails are in order. I agree that as more people adopt the traffic live option the better it will get...
