The Overview
Zing! is i5Labs first foray into the App Store. It allows you to insert audio commentary into everyday situations. Did someone say something particularly dumb? Add crickets. A bad joke? Play a rimshot. Then there is the “Bow chicka bow wow” of the pr0n button.
The Features
Zing! features 6 button types: evil laugh, fail, crickets, drum, shock and pr0n. These are grouped in three different categories: human, robot and audio. Each button produces a high fidelity audio sample appropriate for zinging people in different situations. There are also 6 hidden sounds you can access by shaking your device. Basically, 2 gunshots for each section.
The Breakdown
The Good
Zing!’s audio files are hi-fi and sound great played over loud speakers. Used with good timing, they can provide chuckles from your audience and/or embarrassment for a public speaker. The interface is quick and responsive with each new sound interrupting a previously chosen one in case you accidentally push the wrong button (except for the gunshots – these will play simultaneously while any other sound is playing).
The Bad
You have to know you are going to use Zing! You cannot just decide suddenly that a friend’s comment deserved a “shock” reaction. It takes too long to turn on your iPhone, scroll to the app, start it up and then hit the appropriate sound button. However, if you know you are going to “zing” your buddies, you can have this app up and ready to go. The other issue with Zing! is that it does not have sound level control. Often, other people could not hear what I was zinging them with until everyone stopped talking, bent in close, and listened. At that point, the moment was gone.
The Verdict
Zing! is not for everyone. It is for those with a bit of the prankster in them. People who like practical jokes, whoopee cushions and exploding cigarettes. If it were a free app, I might keep it on my phone for the occasional laugh. But as a paid app, I only recommend it to people who really get into making snide comments at their friends.
How to get a Free Promo Code
If you are looking to get a Promo Code, you must think Zing! has some value. Meaning, you probably disagree with most of my review. So, write anintelligent, well-thought out, rational rebuttal (or just call me an idiot
) and I will pick the best ones and send them the promo codes!

Yes!!! I want it XD Promo Codes!!!! aaaaaa!!!! XP aaa mmm I want to try it
you sir are an idiot
I already have “pocket sitcom”. I’d love to add this!!!
This app is cool but I wouldn’t expect to pay for it. Also, having the zing momments planned out will be hard to come by and hard to plan.
Some conversations with my wife are becoming quite boring last days and it would be great to use it on those. It is going to be even more fun (at least for me) as she totaly hates my IPhone.
“Do I want to annoy my wife while we’re having a conversation/discussion? Now there’s an app for that!”
I completely agree with your assessment of Zing!
I would never actually pay for an app of this type due to its very limited use, and the pre-planning that you’d have to do to use it with any effect. Zing! would not take up one of the 176 visible spots on my iPod.
Apps in this genre are better suited to in-app advertising than a $0.99 price tag. Unless the income from drunken impulse buys, is enough to support the development costs.
PS. I’m not really interested in a code, just felt like replying.
To me “World 9″ is one of the most useful apps in the App Store, I always surprise my friends jumping like Mario so I yeah, this app is gold and… you’re an idiot! I need it.
Don’t think I would pay for this app, but I only need one more to fill up my 11th app screen
