For those of you who didn’t notice yet, the Facebook app is broken.
The news feed doesn’t seem to be affected yet but the profiles are down since over a day now, a particularly troubling situation since we are only 10 days after Joe Hewitt, the app developer, quit.
According to TechCrunch, Facebook would be aware of the issue but their “engineering team” doesn’t seem to have fixed the problem quite yet. Transitions are always difficult but in the end Hewitt’s protest against Apple just leaves us without a working app…
Are you also affected?
[Update:] Apparently Facebook would be slowly rolling out a fix, it’s working again for me but am I the only one?]

You can indeed blame Apple for causing Hewitt’s departure, he could have fixed the issue probably.

Yeah my app is out,
in general though i prefer facebook app to facebook itself cuz its snappier and faster.
maybe because it blocks out most apps that just waste my eye’s time,
anyways the notification always sucked and I too got the problem dexcribed here,
The problem wasn’t the app itself. It was an API issue that just didn’t cause a problem with our iPhones. Blackberry users reported the problem too.
I too have the issue, however it did not start for me until I ran the Application update through the app store two days ago. So much for fixing the bugs, it’s more like it created one. Very frusterating.

Facebook’s working fine. Alexander’s grammar, however, is not. I’m shocked.
Hrm. it was working just fine for my wife and I all day, and if there was anybody that would notice anything not working with the Facebook app, it’s my wife, the perpetual Facebook refresh button clicker.
My advice is to reinstall and see if fixes itself. Best of luck.

Gonner. Reinstalled but no love. Strange: on my wife’s iPhone, FB is working just fine. Huh?
