The Ways Of The App Store Are Impenetrable: Mein Kampf? Yes, Congressional Caricatures? No

The fuss around the App Store’s approval process isn’t going to calm down anytime soon. At first most of the refusals used to be around what the app would do, lately Apple started to filter mostly the content and is slowly becoming more and more of a Big Brother.

There are hundreds of similar stories, one more noticeable was the wave of protest that emerged last week when a Spanish translation of Mein Kampf appeared in the Spanish App Store. At the same time Apple was refusing an update of Retina, an app that helps people see colors. Today Apple rejected My Caricature app that featured funny looking congressmen.

On what ground ? The 3.3.14 clause of the developer agreement :

‘Apple’s reasonable judgment’ rule regarding potentially objectionable content

What about Mein Kampf then? The app logo is a Swastika…  How long do you think until they start getting into some serious troubles?

  1. Totally agree, I don’t know whats wrong with Apple lately… I’ve been waiting for a Ping! update for a month now. Still can’t believe why they take that long and many times reject the apps after the long wait.
