ping!

If you somehow missed out on downloading Gary Fung’s iPhone-to-iPhone messenger, Ping!, the last time it was available for free, now is your chance to redeem yourself.

ping!_screen1Ping! is a simple and effective app that allows you to send an unlimited number of text messages to your iPhone and iPod touch toting friends as long as they have the app installed as well, which shouldn’t be too hard since it is now available for free.

Just download Ping! for free (normally $.99), create a unique Ping! ID, and then share that ID with your friends and family.  After you have completed those simple tasks you will be able to send instant and unlimited text messages at no charge to anyone around the world.  Ping! is also push-enabled, so you won’t even have to have the app open at all times to receive a message.

Ping! does have the ability to send an unlimited number of photos, but it’s going to cost you $.99.  To activate the ability to send photos to other Ping! users, simply tap on the “Settings” icon located at the bottom of the screen, then tap “Advanced features,” and finally you will see the “Send Photos” feature.

You can’t Ping! alone, so get out there and tell everyone that is available for free for a limited time.

  1. Go ahead and download it. But DO NOT INSTALL in on your phone. It crashes very bad. It even affects other apps and syncing with iTunes. Wait for 1.4 update before you try to use it.

  2. Already installed it on my iphone and it’s awesome :)

  3. Can’t even download it now. It says it’s being modified. I hope this is to address the crashing and not a convenient way to make sure no one can obtain it for free.

  4. I had a similar issue with the spore app. it was on sale for .99 and I wanted to have it for a plane ride but iTunes kept telling me it was being modified so I could not download it.
as for ping, excellent app. no crashes for me.

  5. app is SO unreliable!
