This is something every other iPhone user dreams about since over 2 years now and the jailbreak just made it possible. Yes, you can now pair a bluetooth keyboard with your iPhone and it’s already on Cydia.

It’s called the iPhone Bluetooth Keyboard Driver and in my opinion this is an absolute revolution. I’m not complaining about the on-screen keyboard, it’s great, however you wouldn’t imagine writing a more complex email or a blog post from it.

The app is not available right now since the developer has delisted it temporarily to correct some minor bugs, but it should be back tomorrow and you can already test it thanks to a demo version.

[Thanks to Eric for the tip!]

  1. Now that’s what I call “Reason to Jailbreak” !

  2. Why can’t this be standard functionality? Would really help people that need to type articles etc on the go. Ah, right, because apple couldn’t control it completely and kick the ass out of the profit from it. Right.

  3. That’s about the silliest thing I’ve ever seen. Seriously, if you’re goin to carry around a keyboard *and* an iPhone why not just get a netbook or a mini instead? Would make a lot more sense.

  4. This is good for if you want to write an Article on your iPhone quickly. And being wireless just adds another functionality to it.

  5. RoqyGPS / RoqyBT is another awesome bluetooth program on Cydia… I’ve been using my $30 bluetooth GPS module with Navigon & other GPS enabled apps on my 2g iPod Touch for about a month now – works GREAT.

  6. I remember being in school and having my Palm hooked up to a keyboard. Netbook was not an option back then. Still nice to be able to crank out notes and still have it on a device that is always with me. Not only that but Netbooks are for girls….. :)

Just wish this was not limited to jailbroken iphones.

  7. This is a revolution? An option that I have to jailbreak (read violate licensing and warranty) for that I have had the option for on Windows Mobile and Palm since before they were phones?? Apple needs to get off their duffs and deliver a full featured BT stack so they have yet another customer base for their BT keyboard, and those of use who already have that one pictured above can use it on our iPhones as well as our Pures and HD2s.
