  1. I want Charadium!!

  2. I live in Los Angeles and have actually noticed a speed difference, but the same areas that have horrible service, have horrible service, That’s what I was hoping to be fixed but apparently not.

  3. This is incorrect. They have NOT complete the 7.2 upgrade. They have completed the *software portion* of the 7.2 upgrade, but have not finished increasing backhaul connections yet. They let out that press release to try and stave off criticism after T-Mobile announced that it had completed their own HSPA 7.2 upgrade and turned it all up.
AT&T hasn’t turned it up yet. They are doing so – slowly. I am in one of the test markets (Dallas/Fort Worth, where AT&T is headquartered) and the speeds are still the same.

  4. Charadium looks cool! Am I too late?

Janey is right. AT&T’s HSPA 7.2 upgrade is still ongoing.

I could be wrong, but I don’t think 2G & 3G iPhones support HSPA 7.2. I believe only the 3G S does, so even if you’re in an upgraded cell, you need an S to notice the difference.

On the coverage question, HSPA doesn’t improve coverage. It’s all about improving capacity. So, if youre’ in an area where you get signal, but the network is over subscribed, then it will help. If you have signal problems, though, it cannot help you.

The ongoing 850 MHz upgrades are all about improving signal propagation & in-building penetration.
