Apple has just released a brand new European USB charger for its iPod/iPhone line. It looks way better than the current American one (which came to replace the defective original one) and will also nicely replace our old bulky European bricks.

Without much surprises, it consists of the traditional 2 pins on one side and a full-featured female USB port on the other.  It goes for about $35.

  1. When will this be available in the US? Or–is it readily available in Europe?

    • Gail, this is already available here in the Netherlands. I’ve seen it for 25 euros in the Apple stores, but for one euro less in the Mediamarkt. Seems a lot of money for what it is so I’m waiting ’til they’re produced cheaper.

  2. When you say “full-featured female USB port”, do you mean *full-featured* … ? ;)

    Lucky Euros

  3. Well… The older version cost 25€.
A 40% raise in price for an inferior product (the older one had switchable “prongs” so you didn’t need another power adapter if you traveled abroad).

    Way to make money apple!

  4. Ok, the article says 35 DOLLARS.
Probably the price in EUROS is same.
Still, this is an inferior product.
