Apple has just officially lifted the ban for apps to make VoIP calls over 3G!
With all this iPad fuss, the timing for such a change is a little bit troubling, but I guess we shouldn’t complain.
Anyway, only minutes after updating the SDK, Apple has in the movement also approved its very first 3G VoIP app. It’s actually an update of iCall and it’s available now.
On a further note, since the app is fully compatible with the iPad, it can be used as a phone.

What? My anger over the fact that the iPad doesn’t have a camera just went from level 5 to level a-freaking-billion.
Newest Zack Morris giant phone for the decade.
Troubling? How is that troubling? Things are changing. The exclusivity with AT&T has limited the approval of VolP apps in the past. This just goes to show that the exclusivity is ending. I imagine we will see many more VolP apps approved in the next few weeks. Just because things weren’t talked about at the Apple Conference doesn’t mean they aren’t happening.
“This just goes to show that the exclusivity is ending.” – or it shows that AT&T and Apple are cooperating even more, and AT&T is making concessions to keep Apple happy.
Fake! Just plug your iPhone and see if there is an update to OS 3.2
