Nuance Communications has finally decided to stop ignoring all of you iPod touch users out there and have updated both Dragon Dictation and Dragon Search with support for your favorite music playing touchscreen device. Now if only they would stop ignoring the rest of the world and release the apps in more countries.
Both Dragon apps launched last month to quite a bit of excitement, only to have many users fret over privacy issues and the lack of iPod touch support. Those issues have been addressed via recent updates, and in addition, both apps now feature an enhanced user interface and the ability to have the apps figure out when you are done dictating when there is silence. The ability to toggle this new feature on and off is located in Settings rather than within the app, and so is the ability to choose whether or not to send any data to their servers.
Dragon Dictation and Dragon Search are still available for free in the App Store, but they may not always be, so if you ever intend on dictating an email or text message, or searching the web with only your voice, download them both immediately. Excited iPod touch users should not forget that you still need some sort of microphone attachment in order to use the apps. Apple’s own iPhone earbuds will do the trick if you have any nearby.
